Well finally got the new engine replaced. Along with the trans and transfer case rebuild. Here some pics. Does anyone know what color paint pen they used at the factory to write the body color code on the firewall with. I copied all the orignal paint marking I found and would like to put them back on. Maybe next year do the frame and stuff. Want to drive it alittle bit before the snow flys.

CLEAN BUILD!! I love that transfer case. Makes me want to pull mine and paint it.

The marks on mine are white..........but they may have been different on lighter color paint...?

Pretty sure my 205 was red oxide primer when new.

Curious if you plan to use the heat stove that was around the LH exhaust manifold. If not, I'd buy it for use on my blazer build.

I believe those markings were made with grease pencils, not paint pens.

No I didn't a Buddy of mine owns a Transmission shop and He did it. If you have questions I can get you his info

Very clean work. Nice job. Obviously the firewall markings were done at the factory on a wide open firewall before any installation. Trust me when I tell you, it will be difficult to put the markings on there with the engine and firewall mounted components in place. Some of our markings got smudged late in re-assembly and I elected to "erase and replace" the affected markings...and it was a challenge. The best way is on a blank tub...just like they did it originally.

Your build and detail looks great! I can't remember what year your Jimmy is, but here's a couple pics. Don't know if it will help. I'm about ready for install but still need to paint the air cleaner.

Mine are definitely done with a grease pencil or china marker. I smudged them a bit during cleaning. Black writing on 520 code yellow, 1970 Jimmy.
