Re: Pictures of my 1966 c10!
I want to say thanks to all of the people on the forum for your help with the truck. Members gave advice, made suggestions, told about experiences and posted pictures of their trucks. All of this helped a lot! I'm no mechanic and this was a huge project for me!
My truck is pretty much done. I plan to change a few things, and dress up the engine. The valve covers and breather cover were free so I used them. Now Im looking for something better. I also need to clean it up better and detail it! I looked at a lot of trucks online to get ideas, so I wanted to post mine and list some of the parts/modifications. Hopefully it might help someone to make some decisions on a future project. Basics of the truck........ -5 lug conversion.. Power brakes (disc/drum)and PS from 81 Chev PU -Brakes required adjustable proportioning valve (CCP) -Lowered 4" springs in rear. New springs in front 3" drop spindles. -KYB Monotube shocks with shock relocation brackets in rear. -255 55 18 Tires on Chrome Riddler wheels -1976 Chev Van tilt steering column -Vintage Air Kit -Houndstooth and vinyl seat and covered door panels -RetroSound radio 6" front speakers and Cerwin Vega powered sub under seat -Gas tank (in cab)spray painted with Rustoleum Hammered finish (looks great!) -350 Turbo and 350 SBC -Ceramic coated headers and dual Imco Mufflers (like Cherry Bomb Pro) (sound great!) -Butyl sound mat from Ebay -Retractable 2 point seatbelts -LED taillights and turn signals I used this cam ... LUNATI 10120102LK. I couldn't be happier with it. Inexpensive, great power, vacuum & drivability, and it sounds fantastic! The idle is perfect! If you want a Flat Tappet, this cam is worth considering Things I could have done different......... - Order upgraded switches for dash on the vintage air, instead of the 3 turning knobs -Fill mirror holes before paint and drill for a different style of mirror -??? Fill holes for C10 fender emblem before paint??? I've gone back and forth on this -Put big aluminum heads on while I was at the cam(not that it really needs them)... future project -Dress up the engine a little more as I was working there ...future project I may post better pictures another time. These were taken quickly and don't do the truck or paint justice. Last edited by jason999; 08-14-2016 at 11:01 PM. |

Re: Pictures of my 1966 c10!
OUTSTANDING job there Jason. Big window trucks have always been my favorite, this one is one of the nicest I've seen in a VERY long while. KUDOS to you for bringing it back to life with superb style.

Quote:
Bud and Pete's Auto Trim 2015 N Central Ave Knoxville TN I drew the stitching and details that I wanted on a piece of paper. I based it on a 69 Camaro Pace Car. That's why I used black carpet. Look at my old thread for some photos http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=684194 I'm having trouble taking accurate photos, but I'll post the best one's I have. My door panels were dented, so I drew a design out and he covered them. I decided to make the attaching screws visible so that it would still have a truck look. I wasn't sure about the covered panels, but the design and quality came out perfect, for my taste. They are better than expected. |

Re: Pictures of my 1966 c10!
What a great truck! That red looks really sharp.
What size wheels and tires do you have? I am a few weeks from finishing my truck as well. Chomping at the bit to get it out and drive it. Seeing your truck makes it even worse! |
