Re: 1956 chevy apache
you can send your vin to gm and they will send you info on exactly what your truck was when it started out, how many were produced etc etc. they would also have info on the apache thing. if you weren't the original owner it may have had the front clip sheet metal swapped for a 58 at some time, but that sheet metal is actually longer than the 55-57 stuff. the frame is also longer by a couple inches on the 4 headlight trucks. if the cab vin matches the frame and the frame wasn't made longer out front then you probably have a 58 or 59. post a pic if you get time.

Re: 1956 chevy apache
Enter your VIN here are it will tell you what year the cab and frame are.
http://www.stovebolt.com/techtips/vin/vinbuster.html Click on the link in my signature, go to the index page and look up the specs for the 31 series. Sounds like goofed up title or maybe a front clip swap at some time. Frame on 58-59 is 3 inches longer in the front to accommodate the additional clip length. Either the frame or front bumper brackets would have been lengthened to get the clip to fit right.

Re: 1956 chevy apache
31 was the designation that GM gave it when it went to Apache. 3100 was pre 58. C10 was just after Apache, C10 I think started in 60. Most all of it was marketing. 60-61 could be a C10 or K10 Apache, 58-59 would be a 31 Apache

Re: 1956 chevy apache
Mar K seems to be the standard, I bought a rear cross sill and other misc parts from them. Made in US and matchs original right down to the spot weld pattern. I have not heard any complaints about fit or quality.
