HELP. Please

75 suburban driving in heavy rain, lost runnin/park lights. Traced back to fuse. Three days later all dry, smelled smoke lost runnin/park lights again. Fuse popped again. However now with out replacing the fuse, press the brakes and get dash lights, blinkers flash bright on correct side and dim opposing at same time. Someone slide to start in the wiring of the steering column...I was leaning towards headlight switch...but it started in the rain so seems like maybe outside of the cab. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: HELP. Please

I'm no good with electrical, I usually stumble on the problem rather than arrive on the logic train. I agree with the headlight switch, I had a similar problem when I tapped a tach into the "dimmed" side of the headlight switch. Also a good time to pull the exterior lamps and clean up all the contacts and grounds and give a dab of dielectric grease.
