49 GMC 150 motor frame tranny part out

I'm putting my 49 on.a s10 frame with a 350 and th400. Is there any demand for the old frame tranny motor rear end etc, basically everything but the body? Not sure if it's worth the bother trying to sell or just scrap it? I also have a spare tire bracket complete but don't plan on using it since I'm running 18 inch wheels. I just don't want a frame sitting around. I crawled under the truck today after it was delivered and it's really nice, i just hate to shred it.

Jim, demand for those components vary. I've seen guys on here looking for a solid chassis yet unable to find one. And other guys selling and unable to find a buyer.

Re: 49 GMC 150 motor frame tranny part out

there isnt a lot of value in a 150 chassis, its the long bed 3/4 ton, the axle is an 8 lug eaton with 5.16 gears. I have had three, scrapped one, gave away two after trying for weeks to sell them even at $100.

the motor should be a 228, the trans should be a 4 spd floor shift. I tried for 6 months to sell a running 248 from a 53, finally sold it for just above scrap and delivered it 300 miles round trip. the GMC engines were full pressure oilers even in 49 so they are an upgrade over the 216/235, but they are not a bolt in upgrade.

but by all means try to sell it. I wouldnt hold high hopes on value, but your results may vary.
