Restored Shortened Intermediate Shaft for Van Tilt

Purchased this to use with my Van tilt column, but plans are now to use a dropember with R&P so I don't have a use for this. Restored by fellow board member 70shortfleet - $80 shipped, which is what I paid for it.

What's the purpose of the shorten shaft, what does it do?

Does that help if you are trying to shorten the column?

Yes, that's one of the primary benefits of a van column - you can get tilt, and move the steering wheel closer to the dash.

If you install a van tilt column into your truck, you have to shorten the intermediate shaft 2 1/2". If you move the van tilt column closer to your dash you will have to shorten the intermediate shaft even more!

Re: Restored Shortened Intermediate Shaft for Van Tilt

Question if I have a intermediate shaft for a regular 67-72 truck column all have to do is knock the pins out then I can adjust it to the length I need. With the one you already have the pins are all ready out?

I'm interested, can you tell me what all has been done to this shaft?

I took it completely apart, bead blasted it, powder coated it and shortened it to the correct length and packed it full of grease

Are the pins already out of the shaft or you have to take them out also, in order make the column adjustable

The "pins" are just nylon. Hit them with a propane torch and smack it down to your desired length.
