First start advice.
Okay so in 2 weeks we should be trying to crank over the motor (im heading outa town for a week tomorrow) and am wondering how we should go about it, just crank it until it starts, or what?

according to the p.o its been sitting since nov. 2015. and when it last ran it was for a quick drive around the yard.

I'd pre-oil it. Pull the distributor, find a junkyard distributor shaft and hook it to your power drill. It gets the oil pump working and prevents dry start that could cause damage.

I use marvel mystery oil in the cylinders of the engines I build at work. Oil will work as well. It can't hurt to squirt a little bit in each one to help free everything up and build compression. I'd prime the system too. Might be a good idea to go thru the carb if it's been sitting that long with fuel in it.

THE most important thing to do is get oil into the valve train. Cam lobes love oil and hate being without it!
A flat blade screw driver (or old junked distributor shaft) fitted into a drill, down the distributor hole will spin the oil pump that will fill the oil galleys nicely!
