Score of the day (i think)
So I usually hang out on the 67-72 boards, but being a square body guy at heart, I'm always looking at parts and when a buddy says, "I'm going to crush it so take what you want," I tend to jump on it. Long story short I acquired a tach cluster today, I was pretty excited even though I no longer own a square body, but I had to have. But I had never educated my self on the different types of clusters, having km/h and mph I was a little thrown off, so I guess my questions are is this cluster even desirable and worth having? What year(s) is it out of, and is there a way to test the tach? i noticed its a three wire pig tail, so I assume it would be pretty simple. Also can you restore the clear gauge cover? It was out of a truck with a silverado dash badge if that helps any. Thank you in advance

Re: Score of the day (i think)
I think it's out of a 76. I believe 76 was the only year for the voltmeter and the mechanical oil gauge. I don't think you would have any trouble selling it. Added plus is the mounting tab on the left is still intact. You can buff the clear cover but if it's too far gone I hear the reproductions are pretty good.

It is correct for 1976 and 77. Also, it is for a 2WD truck as evidenced by the small gauge lense indicator openings in the tach and speedo. The 4WD trucks have larger openings.

I would get freaked out seeing my tach pinned all the time. My truck shifts at around 4500 rpm at WOT.

Re: Score of the day (i think)
I reserve tach clusters for restored trucks. I'm on the hunt for a tach housing only myself-I've restored a few but now that aftermarket stuff is out now, I've been keeping most of the really nice original tach stuff.

Re: Score of the day (i think)
I stand corrected I believe it's an early 1976..
9.761 BOLT— HEAD A SM .- GASKET, Speedometer and Odometer (Miles) NOTE 1: On 1976 First Design the speedometer head has none or one tell-tale filter at the bottom of the dial. NOTE 2: On 1976 Second Design the speedometer head has two tell-tale filters at the bottom of the dial. |

Fairly rare piece if you want a correct one for a 1st design 76 resto. My 76 is a 2nd design with a 78 tach cluster, the later ATC fuse panel, and a 1998 diesel drivetrain. You "Correct resto" guys can keep your AGC fuse panels I had a small celebration when I installed the ATC panel and cab harness.
