67-72 C30 for pulling a 3 car wedge

Hi All, was curious has any one used a 67-72 C30 to pull a 2 or 3 car wedge trailer 5th wheel design. I know that the C30 has a 10,000 gvwr along with a 3 car wedge with a 15,000 gvwr keeps the combine gvwr under the 26,000 lbs (no need for a cdl license) I know the 67-72 C&C rear end is narrower than todays 1 ton chassis. Thanks for any info Dwayne

I thought towing anything greater than 10,000 gvwr requires a CDL?

Edit I think that can vary state to state. Not sure on Ohio.

If I'm correct, as long as the GCVWR is under 26,000 the trailer can be over 10,000 and no CDL is required as long as no HAZMAT(at the federal level, states may vary)

I have a 1972 C30 12 valve Cummins NV4500 with a 14 bolt 3.73 gear. It pulls and stops my 10,000 lb 36' enclosed race car trailer great.

sorry I misspoke, PA just has a bunch of goofy laws if your trailer is over 10k.

as far as your original question, is the truck bone stock or modified? I think stock would be lacking in pulling power and stopping power if its still has original brakes.

Also, your GVWR numbers seem a little low. most 3 car trailers are tagged at 20k(I know there are exceptions).

Joe its Not a CDL that is required for any combination over 10,000 lbs .but Federal law requires at any combination over 10,000 LBS the driver must have a ( Health Card ) it is a $250.00 fine for not having that card .... most state DOTs rather pull over the big rigs for the big fines ,but where I live they set up on the boarder Of NJ/PA and issue these fines to small guys all day long Landscapers / mason dumps pulling ...ect ect .I now plenty of small guys that have recieved this fine for being registered over 10,000 LBS and not having there health card/certificate.... sorry to ther op for getting off topic but wanted to explain the over 10,000 LBS federal law
