2wd conversion front crossmember question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Just picked up this gem for free over the weekend. Actually pretty rust free. I will be converting to 2wd since I already have the front cross member, steering etc from a donor vehicle. YES I've done the whole search button thing and couldn't get my answer. Guys that convert to 2wd, where are you measuring from to get the crossmember lined up correctly? I understand it has to come forward. I heard that one measurement is 20 1/4 inches from core support rivet to crossmember nut. Thanks, Jon

I used the chassis gauge holes and compared to a original 2wd. An example of the gauge holes here http://www.chuckschevytruckpages.com/framespecs.html

the bolt holes 4 the bolt-in IFS r pre-drilled in the frame - use the donor parts from a 2WD and line up the holes
