Door striker plastic bushings, what are you using?
The aftermarket ones I'm seeing are a lot thicker than factory and don't fit over the pin.
I would call these not very good |

Picked up some new ones at AutoZone, had only 2 bushings and they were white.

Re: Door striker plastic bushings, what are you using?
I replaced the whole set, they were pretty beat up. I got the actual GM part, so there was no issue with size.

09601750 ; 09815751 Not sure if they are available any more, but you can get some at this place. I just don't know if these are actual GM parts. http://www.truckandcarshop.com/trucks73_91/t73_018.html

Re: Door striker plastic bushings, what are you using?
I believe this is where I got mine, but they changed their web-site, and I'm not sure how you order from them. Maybe call them?

Re: Door striker plastic bushings, what are you using?
Those are for Fords and they are .050" thicker than the Chevy ones that measure in at .700". I tried them and they didn't work to well. They caused the door to hang up on the opening.

I replaced my 74 with a set from Oreilly's. Bolts, washers and bushings. No problems.

Re: Door striker plastic bushings, what are you using?
1/2 inch pex. Holds up a lot longer than the crappy help aisle bushings.

Re: Door striker plastic bushings, what are you using?
Problem I have with PEX is that I can't find anything less than 25ft in length....

Re: Door striker plastic bushings, what are you using?
Stop and talk to a plumber. He'll probably give you a scrap out of the back of his truck.

Re: Door striker plastic bushings, what are you using?
Pex. a few bucks will get you enough to do a ton of them. Home depot had like a 4 or 6 foot piece i think?
On mine -- i had to make a slit the length of the tube to get it to slide over the striker. the next size up was too big. works great, dirt cheap. |

Re: Door striker plastic bushings, what are you using?
What I did was order other stuff to make it worth the shipping. Like a set of door pins & bushings and a few other small items.

Re: Door striker plastic bushings, what are you using?
Like mine, it looked like it had been run thru a chipper shredder, and survived somewhat.

Re: Door striker plastic bushings, what are you using?
I find great OEM strikers from Suburban back doors that have little use. Also, I use my pex expando tool to slide the pex over the striker bolt.
