73-87 gas tank question

Hi, Wondering if someone can help out here.
I shortened a V3500 crew cab(1989) 4x4, to a short box.
I am wondering about buying two new tanks.

First question is...can I get a sending unit with a larger line coming out for my diesel engine? I need a 3/8" two line.

Second question...anyone ever tie these two tanks together so you don't have to fill from both sides and you don't need a switch to go from one tank to the other? I would rather fill from one side, and draw fuel from one side. I was thinking of brazing a nipple on bottom of both tanks and connect them.

I'm close to finishing my project. I will have to post some pictures of the progress I have made. I used a 12 valve cummins, NV4500, NP205, Dana 80.
next is working on exhaust. Trying to fit 4"(its a bit tight). And I need to figure out fuel tanks.

I've seen on here were guys have replaced the siphon tube with a larger one. I bet if you search you can find it.

Personally I don't think the risk of a transfer tube in the tanks is worth the gain.

A bottom transfer tube runs the risk of getting ripped off if it gets snagged on brush or road debris. Plus, if you parked on a steep side slope, enough fuel could run to the low tank to over fill that tank and leak out the vents.

For a while, there was a kit that replaced anf connected filler tubes above the tanks. You have to slow down a bit on filling though. Otherwise it is nice to fill both from either side.
