Fuel line size

i am ready to install the fuel line on my 49 p/u and i ordered the stock fuel shutoff valve for the stock tank, and noticed it's only 1/8" in size but the fuel pump for 4.3 V6 is 3/8". is that going to be to small.

Re: Fuel line size

1/8th sounds pretty small. Have never seen one that size. Sure it's not 1/4 or 5/16th's?

Much more common. My stock 3100 had 5/16ths. Going with 3/8ths since I am running new lines anyway

Re: Fuel line size

Your first question it sounded as if you were using 1/8" fuel line. 1/8" npt is the pipe thread size not the line size..the line Id for 1/8" npt is roughly 1/4"..I don't know if that'll work with a 4.3 without restricting flow..but it might be fine..are you carbd or injected?

Re: Fuel line size

with a 4.3 carbed engine I would say 3/8 is probably what you want to use for fuel line. the suction side is usually bigger than the return side. can you up size the fitting on the tank and use a bigger pipe thread like 1/4 or 3/8?? it would mean making the hole bigger and retapping? 1/8 pipe fitting is not gonna flow much.
