1956 Chevy 3600 Flatbed Parts
Hello from a new forum member. I am restoring a 1956 Chevy 3600 flatbed and right now we are working on the bed. The surround is in good shape, but the metal strips between each board are rusted in some cases. Haven't found anything on the web from LMC, Classic, etc. Will a stop by a local Chevrolet dealership yield anything? My impression is that this bed was used into the late 60's, at least.

Got it. MAR-K Manufacturing in Oklahoma City can fix me up.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3600 Flatbed Parts
I always liked the looks of those ribbed factory flatbed side rails but you seldom ever see one around here. Most of the trucks that got flatbeds around here got sold as cab and chassis and either went to a shop that built flatbeds or the owner built his own like my grandfather and uncle did on my grandfather's 48 1 ton.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3600 Flatbed Parts
Here is my before and after picture. My father purchased this truck new in 1955. He built the bed. I just found the original bed about 1 month ago. It was widened to fit dually wheels. I cut out 5" from width and shortened it 3.5" as well.

Sharp, I'd love to find a a similar bed framework for a truck we have out here that my daughter wants to build but those are even harder to find.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3600 Flatbed Parts
Looks good MC. I would love to find one of those for my 55.
I have never seen one in person and it took me years to find a 9'x7'.4" store bought bed with round corners for my 55+ dually. It will look OK and much better than the angle iron and plywood hay hauler bed it came with. Can you please measure L X W of your bed and get a close up pic of the thing in the middle rear of the bed. Thanks.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3600 Flatbed Parts
bed is 79.5" x 94".
Bull Dog came with the bed. It also has a red light inside and is a bottle opener.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3600 Flatbed Parts
Thanks for the info. Might bee too narrow for a dually. I will have to measure.
Thanks again.
