Quick Question: Door Hinge support

This question is referring to 47-54 trucks. I need the hinge support that is spot welded on the back of the front cab pillar. It's the piece of sheet metal behind every hinge. This is also the piece the threaded "nuts" are attached to. I did some searching but don't even know what to call it. I am wondering if these are available aftermarket anywhere? I could make one but would like to find one if possible. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Quick Question: Door Hinge support

On Task Force 55-59 they come as part of the hinge pocket replacement piece. I bought the whole piece and used what I needed.

It is called a hinge pillar replacement panel. Here is one link to an AD, but it does not look like it comes with the captured nuts?

Re: Quick Question: Door Hinge support

You are correct, I bought and installed the lower pillar patch piece for my truck but they do not come with the part I'm describing. That's exactly why I'm looking for one...I guess most people re use the original but in my case that's not an option.

Re: Quick Question: Door Hinge support

Call or email Premier street rods and ask if they sell that piece separate. Since they build complete cabs they should have the pieces. Their website will make a preacher cuss though as it is one of the most disorganized messes I have tried to navigate. They lump all sheet metal parts in one page no matter what the make or model or year. divided a bit by part and year though. https://www.premierstreetrod.com/ They build new AD cabs and TF cabs.

Re: Quick Question: Door Hinge support

Looking for that support/ bracket myself so contacted Premiere as suggested but no luck. They had no leads either. Looks like it's time for a little fabrication.

Re: Quick Question: Door Hinge support

just remembered,
If you make them yourself, there is an additional brace
on the lower hinge pocket that stiffens it more.

It was completely rusted away on one of mine. You can
see it in the upper photo. It is a flat piece that connects
to the pillar. It seems to keep it from twisting under load.

Re: Quick Question: Door Hinge support

some more pictures.

the tab on the back of the hinge MUST correctly
register in the slot to help locate the hinge and
keep it from twisting/flexing on just the bolts.

otherwise the door will sag easier...

I cut mine apart carefully in order to get the exact
measurements, then tacked it back together for these
pictures.
