Is 1 16in fan enough for a 5.3 swap?

Doing a 5.3 swap on my '64, i went with a champion 3 core rad and shroud with 1 16in maradyne 2170cfm electric fan. I will be running vintage air a/c later on. will this set up get the job done? Saw a dual fan set up on a camaro today at the pick n pull, just wondering if that would work better. Thanks..

there are going to be those on here more knowledgable that I, however, I think you'll be OK. I ran the stock Tahoe (belt driven) fan on my first '68 with a 5.3 swap, and it ran 183 degrees all day, every day with a stock big block radiator. If it sat and idled for 30 minutes it would get up to about 201, but start moving and it came right down. The 5.3's are really not that hard to cool.... I would say you are fine.

Good Luck!!!

Cool, Thanks. The engine is a 2005 and came with dual fans but wouldnt fit in the '64. I was hoping a single fan would be ok.

Without ac you should be ok. When you put ac on there go to the biggest puller fans you can fit. If it were me, I would go with dual now, no sense in doing things twice. Good luck!

With a shroud and a good 13VDC to the fan at idle you should be OK
Hold a rag or towel in front of the grill and see if the fan will pull it into to grille, if I can do that with mine it cools well even with A/C in the desert!

Agree! There is more time /money, in doing it 2 times! I have not played with the AC, but run 2-14" fans on my truck.....that old 5.3 runs right on temp, & the fans dont run much at all. The fans are said to pull 1250-1300 ea, never an issue. Longhorn
