Most kits have instructions included, but you can use the search feature here and it will show literally hundreds of threads on wipers and installing and which is better which is cheaper, all the different types and issues with each type and brand.

If all else fails the assembly manual or the shop manual for your year is a necessary resource to help you along the way with your project.

Re: 55 3100 2nd series Wiper motor upgrade

If you buy one of the aftermarket kits, all fits well and is pretty straight forward. Been a while since I did the mod in my '56, so as I remember...

If the radio is out, you will have an easier time seeing what is going on. One spring with two little teardrop washers hold the arms onto the motor. They fit in grooves on the motor's arm shafts.

After you remove the arms, make sure they operate freely. Remove the old vacuum motor and of course plug the vacuum source.

Main tips are to mount the new motor securely and make sure it is well grounded- bare metal with internal star washers. (Internal star washers are great for all grounding connections as they "bite" into the metal)

Arms reattached with the same spring and washer set-up.

Don't through the old motor away. I have a couple cars dating to the thirties and believe modifications should be "reversible" and keep old parts- may be in a museum someday!
