Re: Look what I bought!
First congrats on purchase. Wish it wasnt sprayed over flat black.
I hope you didnt buy based on that story. "believed to be 24k original miles"... but half the brake pedal worn off, Steering wheel paint wore off, clutch been replaced and transfer case rebuilt, not to mention it looks like its been to Peru and back. How many times has the odometer been to 24k is the real question. |

That worked. Looks like it will be a fun project. I'm partial to the red interiors. Keep us updated on the progress. LockDoc

Re: Look what I bought!
That black might come off with lacquer thinner. Could be 24k in 49 years of being a lot truck/plow rig

Re: Look what I bought!
I am thinking that I will try and get that black off. I really like the fact that it has the name of the auto company on the side of it. I won't get here until March.

Re: Look what I bought!
Grafitti remover would work too and i think its safer than simple lacquer thinner. Its what I use all the time, I swear by the stuff lol

Re: Look what I bought!
With that being a single stage paint I would stay away from lacquer thinner. It will soften the original paint.I would try the graffiti remover in a spot that is down low and if the rag is black it is doing it's job. If you start seeing red it is taking off the trucks paint. Careful color sanding and buffing would work but lots of work and you might go through the red. Just my two cents.

I've never noticed the F49 hd front axle equipment on a spid before. I wonder what it consisted of?
