Billet Specialties Steering Wheels

Guys,
About to order a new wheel to top my Ididit tilt in the 57 and undecided between the 14" and 15 1/2" Billet Classic. I know it's just a matter of preference, but has anyone experienced any negative issues going with either size? Since it's a Classic, I'm leaning toward the 15 1/2" as it is more nostalgic in size. Any thoughts?

in my opinion, the 15 1/2 wheel would suit better, especially with the floor shift. just me though.

With power steering I went with a 14" bigdog wheel.

Jim, I did the 15 1/2. Just as dsraven mentioned, I thought it fit the era better.

Had to look the Classic wheel up and that isn't too bad with a bit of a 61 impala vibe to it. I could live with that but most of those billet wheels are far too gaudy for me.

It should be mentioned on this thread that there are guys that have bought junkyard smaller diameter steering wheels and welded them to the factory center section. But I've never heard back later how the JB Weld (or whatever kind of epoxy they used to remake the wheel) had held up over time. Anyone know?

A 14" wheel looks awfully small in a truck. I would suggest a 15 or 15.5". This is as subjective as a paint job and wheels. Get what you like.

I think you will like that when you drive it. I lost track of how many steering wheels I have had in my 48 over the years. My favorite was the 69 Corvette wheel I should have kept but the rim was so skinny it was not fun to grip on long trips. My least favorite was a wood wheel that was the only wheel I bought new that had the wood riveted to the steel ring and the holes in the wood where the rivets go would chew up your hands on a long trip. I've got a Nardi wood wheel that came out of a Mazda Miata I believe in my 71 that is 14-1/2 inches that is my favorite over all wheel I have ever had in anything. Very comfortable to drive with. It came from a seller in Japan though.
