In the process of restoring a 1970 c10
I installed new cab mounts today. Old ones were pretty shot.
Question is:
The front mounts came with shim plates, none for the back.
I have some door, fender and hood alignment issues im working on.
What area of alignment should I be checking to see if the shims are needed on the front mounts ?
Also are shims ever used on the rear mounts

Now that you mention it, never seen the rear shimmed just the front. The square ones are the shims on the front and I think I have only seen one thickness on those too

Are you using stock rubber mounts or poly? I made the mistake of buying the poly ones, they sit much shorter than the originals, and once I installed my bed on the chassis, it was very evident the body lines would not align. I ended up making nylon spacers to place in between the poly mounts and the chassis to make up the difference. So, in hindsight, I should have went with the stock type, not to mention the poly ones squeak like crazy. The bed mounts only require those 2"x 2"x 1/4"square rubber gaskets also.

I bought the rubber mounts since I read up on the squeaks. I hear there is a grease for that but I didn't want to mess with it. Stayed stock rubber

Yeah that grease may help with squeaks but still need spacers. Good move staying with the stock type.
