New guy to the 73-87 crew cab world

Hey guys and gals. Just picked up myself a 86 c30 last night. I've been wanting one for a while and finally found the right deal.

454, 400, a/c, supposed to be 70k miles, clean old truck. Minor rust here and there but this will be a driver/ tow rig.

First plans is to clean it up a little and drive it. It's been a daily for the previous owner for a few years so it's in good running order. Just needs some exhaust work to pass Missouri inspection.

Plans are find a Dana 60 and all the brackets and parts to swap it in. Keep the turbo 400 and mate up a transfer case (probably 205). Small lift and 35" tires.

See if I can load a pic via my phone or not.

Re: New guy to the 73-87 crew cab world

Just sat down to update this thread and realized I don't have any more pictures.

Fixed some exhaust leaks and have been driving the truck here and there. Seems Chevy60s are getting harder to find around my area.

Re: New guy to the 73-87 crew cab world

those trucks are cool, you may want to try a program called IrfanView to rotate and save your pics so they don't post sideways, I had that problem when I first joined this forum too

Thanks guys. I'm uploading off my iPhone so they seem to turn up sideways all the time.

understood, make sure that little camera icon on your phone is horizontal before you snap the pic, my iphone sometimes forgets which side is up too and that's what causes this site to upload them funny (actually they are uploaded the way the iphone snapped them) you get the idea

Yep I get what your saying. Pretty sure if you turn your phone sideways to take the picture it'll upload correctly

Re: New guy to the 73-87 crew cab world

Nice truck!

I've found that when taking photos with my iPhone, even oriented correctly (pr held horizontally), will end up flipped when uploaded (they are displayed correctly within File Explorer on my PC).

What I'll usually do before uploading is to simply right clock the image, click on "rotate left", and then right click again and click "rotate right" and it will save the correct orientation!

Interestingly, I do not have that issue when taking photos with my business phone, which is a Samsung S7 Edge.

I'm jealous of your find!
