"Working Girl" post index & goodbye: I've bought a new truck
Well, it's time to take my leave as an active participant here. I've bought a new truck, and no longer own Working Girl. I've just gotten to the age where I want (and need) the comfort and conveniences of a modern vehicle. I bought a 2017 Sierra 1500 Denali CCSB with the 6.2l.
As I take my leave, I thought I would past an index to the most informative posts I've written about the build on various fora. Here's a list of all my modifications on Working Girl over the past seven years: GM 10067353 350cid crate engine Comp Cams 12-300-4 marine/RV camshaft Edelbrock 1406 carburetor Edelbrock 2601 Air-Gap Performer intake manifold Hooker 2453 headers and dual exhaust straight out the back through Flowmaster 40s Thermac air cleaner with cold-air induction Taylor wires and Proform valve cover hold downs with wire clips 94-amp 12SI alternator Flex-o-lite electric fan and controller Front bumper with built-in fog lamps Dual 16-gallon tanks Aries step bars Dual fuel gauges Tachometer Semi-custom heated leather bucket seats with center console/jump seat Floor-mounted wiper mist button JVC Arsenal KD-AHD69 CD Receiver Highliner headliner with four Kicker DS400 speakers Lanzar VCTBS8 active subwoofer Three 12 VDC accessory sockets under the dash Tough Country EZ-Ride Springs and Shocks, +2" front, +3" rear Rhino Liner bedliner Here's a set of pointers to articles I've posted on how to do all of the above: Lots of discussions of camshafts https://www.google.com/#q=%22weyand%22+12-235-2 More camshafts http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/sm...?topic=26161.1 More camshafts, and the Edelbrock 1406 tune for low-compression 350s http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/sm...?topic=32168.0 Carbretor flow rates http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/sm...?topic=31377.0 Ignition timing http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=689321 Dual exhaust, H-pipe, Flowmaster http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/sm...?topic=26530.0 Thermostatic induction with headers http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/sm...?topic=27239.0 Taylor wires and Proform valve cover hold downs with wire clips http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...33&postcount=3 94-amp alternator http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/sm...?topic=28215.0 Electric fan http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/sm...?topic=27899.0 Fog light bumper http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/sm...?topic=26899.0 Aries step bars pics and hints http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...35&postcount=8 Dual fuel gauges and stereo install http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/sm...?topic=27233.0 Combo tach/fuel gauge install http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/sm...?topic=28547.0 Heated leather bucket seats http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/sm...?topic=27233.0 Floor-mounted wiper mist button http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/sm...?topic=27235.0 Highliner headliner speakers http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=632995 Subwoofer http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/sm...?topic=27234.0 Three 12-volt accessory sockets http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=715684 Tough Country EZ-Ride +2/+3 -- two pics http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...65&postcount=7

Thanks, Gregski. I'll probably pop in once in a while. But it's a lot harder to help somebody with something when you no longer have a truck to check things out on. We'll see how it works out. I did want to index everything though, because that's the end of the projects.

Any reason you cant keep the 78?
Also if you want a good forum for newer trucks, you can check out GMfullsize. Just beware that that forum is a little raunchy.

Re: "Working Girl" post index & goodbye: I've bought a new truck
Even with the "16% incentives on select vehicles in inventory", buying a crew cab Denali dynamites a pretty good-sized hole in the checkbook.
And, truth be told, with the Denali around, Working Girl won't get much playtime and will start to fall into disrepair. and have passed it on to a new caretaker.

Re: "Working Girl" post index & goodbye: I've bought a new truck
My wife just 'told' me to buy a new truck. I'm actually reverse of you - as I get older I find the old trucks are more comfortable. I slide across the vinyl of the 87 and my back sort of settles in, compared to the squirming I do in the 99 with cloth seats that want to grip my hips.
Appreciate the above posts, I'm looking forward to having time / money to do the highliner and actually have a truck with a sound system some day.

You don't know me Rich but you put effort into your input on the builds we both followed and I appreciated the detailed information. I say stick around and know that your experience is what qualifies you, not present ownership. And you never know. The right affordable little project truck might pop up. And if you were in tinker mode, not full resto mode, it might be workable since it's not your daily driver.

Re: "Working Girl" post index & goodbye: I've bought a new truck
Interesting coincidence: I'm the original owner of an '85 GMC 3/4 ton 4WD and yesterday I ordered a new '17 GMC 1-Ton 4WD. Keeping my '85 though, use it for shorter trips closer to home. I wanted a new truck to make long-distance runs for fishing in TX & MN, camping 4 wheeling in Utah and Arizona.
