Project Green Acre Build
Hey All - new member here long time enthusiast. Picked up this 1967 LWB for a price I couldn't pass up. Truck runs great, fires up with just a turn of the key. I noted the large back window when I went first saw it, and after doing some detective work, found that someone took a 69 Frame, engine and cab and hung 67 dog house, doors, and bed on it - which means I get the 67 look that i love paired up to a nice solid little '69 350. I of course did the usual stuff as soon as i got it: plugs, cap, wires, rotor, etc. Anyway - here's some pics of it the day I brought it home. Since then it's become my daily driver.

Pretty much right after I got it home and running top notch. I lindseed oiled the whole truck to seal in the rust/patina at the point it was at. Eventually I will matte clear it - but this is a $5 fix to keep it from rusting out any more.

I've also replaced all lenses - front and back. And have a new weatherstripping kit from Fairchild Ind that just arrived today. Little things, bit by bit. Oh - and a full custom TMI Products interior is ordered, but it'll be a few weeks before that arrives.

It looks good. Nice truck. But be careful about rags with linseed oil, they can start a fire.

Thank you. Right now it's slightly lowered and I'm probably just going to keep it somewhere around there. Maybe a bit lower. All the trucks we've built at work have been slammed with 20's. Which i dig and looks great - but it's just not what I want to do with this truck. I want to be able to USE the bed lol. I'll probably level it off - maybe a C notch down the road. Wheels and tires - not sure just yet. Plenty of tread on these and they work ok with the truck currently. They're ust not that exciting. I may go up to a 17 w/ some MT meats on there.
Next up is getting the Hedman Headers and Flowmaster kit put on. Then the TMI interior. And a good bullet bedliner sprayed in to keep the bed from getting worse. After that - front disc brake kit will probably be up next

I feel the same way. I love slammed trucks but I want/need to use mine like a truck. That said, I am still trying to get it as low static as I can and I also threw some big ol' GM Transit wheels on there. Overall I like a static truck that's set up right over a bagged truck which always look goofy to me at ride height. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this truck.

Thanks! Color code on the tag is for the 69 cab - which used to be orange. The doghouse, doors, and bed all came off a 67 which I don't have the door tag for.

Very nice truck indeed. I'd be a little hesitant to Matte clear it... It looks so nice with just what you've done, I think the Matte finish will dull it done a little too much, been there done that with some other projects I've worked on...

Whoever painted your cab did a damn good job of matching it to the rest of the panels. You can't even tell the cab is from a different truck. The only thing I see that isn't "factory correct" that would take an expert to spot is that the A-pillars are painted white. They should be body color on a '67. If I had to guess, I'd say your truck is 511 dark aqua poly.

So the local guy that does custom exhaust installs does not do header installs. I'm not set up with a compressor/air ratchet here at the house and I really don't want to fub these up. Is a mid length hedman hedder install on an SBC something I need to leave to a professional? or can it be done at home w/a 1/2 ratchet? I'm guessing no.

I'm surprised that someone who does custom exhaust won't throw on the headers for you too. It's just a few simple bolts off and on in minutes. If you have the right headers for the truck there should be no interference issues and no problems for you to do it yourself as long as you have even just a basic set of tools (ratchets, wrenches, scraper for old gasket material, etc.). Occasionally you'll get a stuck or broken bolt which turns the job into a chore, but I've rarely had that happen. One mistake I've made several times in the past with headers is to not secure my plug wires properly after install. I've replaced quite a few plug wires after getting torched on the headers.... So, is the plan then for you to install the headers and then run it open to the exhaust shop for them to build you a system to fit?

It's a stock 350/350 on a stock frame and i'm installing hedman midlength headers. I just read up and watched a few videos - seem straight forward enough i guess. I'll be back here if I hit any snags I've got a heatshield products header sheild to wrap them in once installed - so plug wires should be safe.

after watching some videos and doing some reading I'm going to just tackle the header install here myself. I just soaked all the manifold bolts in some good ol aerol kroil and noted these tie downs on either side. Are these a factory piece or is this a fix someone did for a loose motor mount? looks factory - but i'm new to SBC's.

In 65-70 they had some problems with motor mounts so chevy added that strap as a stop-gap measure to keep from binding the rod activated throttle if the mount broke and the engine torqued over and bound your throttle wide open!

That color is damn pretty with a little patina....and I learned something new today! Linseed oil. Guess what I'm gonna do to my patina'd truck. Keep making it more bad ass! And keep the pics coming.
