Australian delivered C20's whats different
Did they have different heaters installed?

The heater cores are the same, but a/c and non a/c are different cores...
heater enclosure is totally different, as Right Hand drive has the brake booster where the left hand drive heater is located... |

It is RHD now, so it will stay that way.
Thanks for the info about the heater, it clears my mind. Now I am dealing with fusible links I have burnt, and intend changing them th circuit breakers, since I caused the short / burnout anyway and cannot get the old style fusible links in Australia.

What fusible links failed?
I would be wary of changing them to any other form of protection... I can source original style here in US... What do you need? |

I will look at the wiring diagram and let you know.
I looked all over the internet and switching seems to be encouraged now. Mind you it was a very small one, which seems to run the same route as a larger one, between the starter solenoid peg and the junction box on the firewall. I have just noticed your web name, where was ya livin in stralia before?

I grew up in western Sydney during the 50's and 60's...straight out of school, went into PMG first (now Telstra) then into Automotive at Boyded Holden in Bankstown. Ended up Master Tech, then owned multiple service centers...usually specialized in AutoTrans, Power Steering, Engine Builds, Race Cars...dirt at Granville and both dirt and tar at Liverpool...then Drag racing at Castlereagh...Group C Touring Cars for a bit as Crew Chief (Ford Capri)...
Had a major back injury at work, decided to change careers...went into IT...been in IT now for 20 years...consulting work took me to USA where I met my wife...US girl...about to retire now in NC...weather is nice most of the year... As there are about four or five fusible links in an average pickup, you may be better served by buying some bulk lengths and make these links as you need them...
I usually use a link wire gauge 4 sizes under the protected wire gauge, so to protect a 12 gauge main wire, I use 16 gauge fusible link wire... Another misspent youth I see, I started racing sidecars in 1972, and still racing today at 67.
I also waste time with hotrods, putting a 4.2 jag donk in a 1927 Dodge, and trying to build a boat tail body. I am a bridge builder by profession, and my bey building is closer to that than the artistic metal forming you can see around. My C20 is a1976, with a 292 that is still running well. I load my sidecar and parts etc on the drop side tray we have on it. I don't have air, and the heater has been out for about 8 years, but I have just put it back, thats why I noticed things different. I reckon natural air con. will do, all vents and windows open and a bottle of water for hydration, remember those days, or maybe it was beer! regards

I have another question about the heater box. I have two cables going from the control panle to te box. But I cannot find where one of the cables goes. One is obvious being right in front behind the ashtray, but the other???

Just looked at my 84 K30 with heat only. One cable goes to the heat/defrost flapper behind the ashtray. The other goes to the top of the heater box behind the glovebox.
If by chance you still need fusible links, a good source is from a salvage yard early 90's truck. They have a multi post junction box on the passenger side(US version) with several links plus as much wire as you can coax out of the wire harness. |
