I6 exhaust gasket question
Exhaust / intake gasket set arrived today. Can someone tell me why the kit came with two heat riser gaskets ? Is the solid one for warm weather climates ? Thanks in advance .

Re: I6 exhaust gasket question
Im pretty that the open one is for the stock configuration where the exhaust heat is allowed to collect under the intake phelam to preheat it and help atomize fuel for better combustion in cooler climates and the closed off one is for personal choice in warmer climates to help eliminate dieseling. Personally I have a collection of the closed ones sitting in my junk drawer from previous gasket sets. I have always used the open ones here in sunny SOCal and the truck runs fine. I wouldn't even expect the closed off ones to last too long in the center with 500 degree exhaust heat running by it for very long.

Re: I6 exhaust gasket question
The closed one is used on HD trucks. Their manifolds don't have a heat riser valve.
