Re: 1 ton suburban van on CL
That looks to be a pretty decent deal on that. You sure don't see many of them around.

Re: 1 ton suburban van on CL
not crazy far from me, heck of a lot of body work to do though. that was one of the advantages of building a pick up truck the body pieces come off in sections

Re: 1 ton suburban van on CL
Is that a suburban or a panel that had windows cut in?

Re: 1 ton suburban van on CL
Panel wagon they cut openings and put windows in. Looks like the back ones are sliders for ventilation. Probably put together for a long route that only had a few kids on it.
Lots of work but a guy could change the hood and doors for better ones and save some work. Throw about 8 comfy captains chairs in it and you have a rig you can throw the family in or half the truck club and take off and cruise.

Re: 1 ton suburban van on CL
The ad says "title says Suburban" but that's just whatever someone typed onto the form. It is a 3800 Panel with the windows added. We have one that doesn't have as many windows. The best part is that it is all the same as a 3800 truck other than body shell and rear fenders. The worst part is 3800 parts are not as common as I'd like! Running boards are hard to find (so many with 3600 think 'long bed' but a 3800 is REALLY long). Fortunately all of the front sheet metal and drivetrain components work. Front axles are a bit harder to come by. Rear axle is same to 1972 (HO72) and U joints are under $20 each at NAPA.

Re: 1 ton suburban van on CL
Looks like it sold as the seller closed the add. Someone has his work cut out for him but a new pair of doors would go a long way towards repairs and the patch panels for the bottom door posts are readily available.
