Re: They're still out there...
I've seen more around here still doing work, this was one of the few times I saw one AND was in my truck. Thought that was pretty cool.
All of that lawn equipment isn't exactly light stuff either!

Re: They're still out there...
Always cool to see. They can still do it! I run my '72 all summer for work. I had long pressure treated lumber on the racks, a bunch of tools and Sakrete in the bed, and the 10' utility trailer hooked up full of the old deck I tore out a couple weeks ago. The next day at a Lowes in another area I saw a guy who said, "That old GMC is still working hard. I saw you yesterday up in Westminster all loaded up". I said, "Yeah, it likes to work and I love working it. I'm building a deck down the road in Highland". These three locations are spread about in Central MD between three counties, hardly local use.

Re: They're still out there...
I have a guy that does my yard. I chose him partially because he had an early 70's Ford truck that he worked out of. He has since upgraded to an 80's ford. His son has a 2000's Chevy though...

I have a pic of a 1969 or 1970 1 ton dumping at the recycling yard. If I can upload it I will. This was in 2013.

With all due respect to German cars I had to do nearly exactly the same thing with a Volkswagen sedan a few years ago. Something in his electrical system had suddenly gone south and he needed a tow.....out of a fairly remote park actually. I was glad to help him out although he had to quietly eat a lot of crow about that (his wife made sure of that)...given that he had spent several hours at a campsite we were sharing, talking about the superiority of German engineering vs American cars....lol. Re: They're still out there...
That BMW is a great running and driving car. Handles like a magnet on the road but if I had to sell one or the other the BMW would leave. This '70 is mostly original from what I have found. Only thing not correct on it now are the newer wheels. I have a set of wheels for it but haven't had time to clean and paint them. It needs cab mounts, cab corners replaced and the bed is crap but I am trying to gather parts. I have a full comfort seat that needs a new cover. I have several parts to put on this to improve it but I use it every weekend to haul my zero mower around mowing yards. It's a work truck for me but I smile every time I get in it.
