New member looking for help
Hello all,
Years ago I bought my '71 Chevy 3/4 ton from a co-worker, and I haven't had a chance to start working on it. Well, I finally decided to start to slowly work on doing a resto-mod on it. I have heard that knowing the Vin number will help in finding exactly what it came with when new. I know from my co-worker that they replaced the engine with a GM Goodwrench 350, but I'm not sure if it had a 350 originally. Can anyone help me with where I need to go to find out what I want to know about my Chevy so I don't look like a complete idiot? |

Welcome and nice project truck. I would say chances are great it was a 350 as it has the 350 fender badges. Also sometimes they are listed in the spid inside the glovebox. I am not sure about the vin decoding, there are other more knowledgeable folk here for that or use the search feature at the top

Re: New member looking for help
Thanks Larry,
You are probably right of course, wasn't even looking at the badging, lol. I plan on starting to work on it in the next six months. I gotta get some finances in order first. I am sure that you're just as informed as to what a project like this can cost. Some small things I can do that don't cost much, but the bigger things need space, time and money. I have great plans for it though. Gabe |
