78 center speaker ?

I have my dash out and the center speaker was never hooked up and was thinking of putting the 2 speaker setup in there but was wondering if others think the sound is good or do you wish you had spent your time putting them elsewhere.

Re: 78 center speaker ?

I can tell you after using the 2 speaker center speaker in my Nova I would never buy another one. The sound quality and volume leave a lot to be desired. When I did my plow truck I used the 1982 rear corner speaker brackets with new 4 x 10 speakers from Crutchfield and I sounds pretty good and tucks into the corners real well.

I used that dual speaker along with the 4x10's in the cab corners in my old 3/4, I loved the sound.

Re: 78 center speaker ?

I just replaced mine a couple months ago. New 4x10 in the dash, and 6x9s in the cab corners. Had to make brackets to hold the 6x9s. I'm happy with the way the setup sounds

did you use just one speaker in the center or a dual speaker?

I used just one 4x10. I went with a RetroSound speaker I got from Amazon, because I couldn't find a lot of choices out there in that size, and I wanted to make sure it would fit under the dash pad nice and not bulge out or anything. It fits great and sounds pretty good. A lot better than the original mono speaker. It fit exactly in the stock location, no modifying or anything was needed.
