How to move my blazer. No rear axle!
So my blazer took a major hit on driver rear wheel. Axle is bent and spring pack came apart. It had a lift block and a corp 14 bolt. The body shop removed the axle to determine damage but now that I've been paid out by insurance they want it out of the lot. Trying to figure how to cheaply move it. I guess a junkyard axle? I can't work on it myself where it is due to liability. Spring pack is 220 new and used 14 bolt is 500 from salvage yard. I'm trying to pay nothing as I'm parting it when removed. Ideas? He says axle too bent to reinstall.

doesn't need to be a 14 bolt under it you can put a 10 bolt witch should be cheep. you are basically looking for castors not drive wheels any more. Correct? Or is it supposed to move under its own power? A piece od 2x4 square tubing drilled out at the spring perches and some u-bolts should hold till you get it home and on some jack stands. hundred bucks. some one probably will let you barrow an axle for a 12 pack. I know this is hack but to move the truck it dose not have to look good.

Not sure what you have to work with, but you could get some wheel dollies and put them under there, and if you are putting it on a trailer, you can put some plywood under the springs and it will slide pretty nice on a steel trailer.
You could probably just lift the back with an engine hoist to load it.

Sounds to me like they are trying to get money out of you. Personally, I would tell them if they need it out of there then let you come put an axle back in it so it will roll. They are the ones that made it unable to roll. After all, .... what are they going to say if you tell them you are not going to pay them to put it back together and are coming to get it?
You could also have a wrecker move it if you don't want to buy an axle now.

I agree cheapest way would to be find an old school bumper lift wrecker to come hook to it. I suppose it could be done with a wheel lift as well but lifted with the bumper instead.probably less than $100 to move it in most areas.

Lock the front hubs, shift the transfer case into 4Lo, put it in gear, and drive it out of there!

Bent axle, or axle tube? Regardless, towing or driving it home would be cheapest.
Borrow the spring and put it back together, and have them put the diff and springs back in and pay the couple hours of labor to reassemble. |

Just pay for a conventional tow truck that holds the rear off the ground while they tow.
