69 c10 front drum brakes
Hello chevy gurus, I bought a 69 c10 6 lug and has drum brakes all around. i think i seen my question asked before but now that i am looking for them I cant find them answers. but here it goes.. I bought the front spindles complete with calipers and rotors are 1.25 thickness 5 lugs with a 2.5 inch drop from a pick a part yard and they happen to be CPP brand in excellent shape. the spindles have the CP 4s4 stamp on them. i believe they are for the 73-87 truck models. my question is can i still use them on my 69 and what are the steps that i need to take. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.:help

Re: 69 c10 front drum brakes
73-87 spindles use a different size ball joint size than 69...
Double check the CPP kit with their parts manual... Your easiest route is to swap out the control arms to the later type and size. |

Re: 69 c10 front drum brakes
You can change the ball joints and tie rod ends using the correct year model for your spindles.
The arms will accept the ball joints...the taper size of the ball joints is larger on the later model parts. |

Re: 69 c10 front drum brakes
That's right, you should be able to purchase the correct upper and lower ball joints plus outer tie rod ends for the year model your spindles were made to fit ( 73-87 apparently, but make sure ) and those will press in/bolt right up to your existing 1969 hardware.
