I'm going to put the 9 on my 71 C-10 SWB fleetside. I am going to plan on putting on 20's but may go up to 24's. Do I only need to relengthen the 9 to what my stock rear end is? Will the wheel size matter?

i dont know about the lengthing but i know that wheel size doesn't matter

If you need the bolt circle changed (5 lug?) The fullsize cars (73-80) used the 9 in them with a 5x5 bolt pattern. The are also close enough that the may not need narrowing.

Since your getting new wheels I wouldn't worry about changing the wheel bolt pattern unless you want to be able to rotate them. But with most people getting different sized wheels front/rear or directionals or offset you probably can't anyway. I'm using a 8.8 out of an Expedition. It was about 4 or 5" narrower. You'll just have to order custom offsets when you get your wheels(probably won't be able to use original backspacing). On most wheels that doesn't cost any more. And you could easily get 5 on 5 rotors for the front. I'm just going to run the 5 on 4 1/2" on back and 5 on 4 3/4" on the front.

The 9 inch in the f100's vary between 60-64 inches between backing plates. A 9 inch from a 64-72 f 100 should be the correct width for 5 lug and redrilling the axles for 5 x5 would be best done when replacing the seals and pressed on bearing. Then just use the car drums of the same size or hae those drums redrilled.
