Parking brake assembly 73-87 (80) C20
Ok the kids 80 C20 failed inspection because the parking brake will not stay on. Tried several things, finally determined its the set pawl on the assembly the tooth is basically gone. (it was a forest service truck I guess they used it a lot), I was hoping it was just the spring but nope. Anyway I can't find just that part, or for that matter a whole new assembly. I may be looking in all the wrong places. I've found older and newer ones but not the 73-87? What's the part number? Who has them?
Considering "welding" a new tooth and filing as a last resort. |

I have a vehicle that the same thing happened to . I ordered a new one and it was junk ( failed ) . I took the old one and a file and filed the notches back in the pawl and cleaned up the other part as well . It has worked perfect for a long time .
If you can not find one I would give it a try . It would at least get you past the inspection . When I did mine it was a good solid fix . You might throw some pictures up to see how bad it is . |

Thanks guys I'll get some photos and I have an offer of a couple take offs. It was pouring last night so no work. That and I try and make him do most of the work and right now homework is taking hours. Sometimes he hates because it's not getting done, but some day...I hope...he will appreciate it. I know I thank my dad every day.
