Upper ball joints

Hello All,

I am rebuilding the 10 bolt front end and wonder if the upper ball joint can be pressed out with the "rental tool" while the steering arm in place. The drive side is still on the truck and I do not have the tool in hand to see if it will clear the arm.

I think it would be easier to break the arm loose while attached to the axle but if i do not need to remove it , all the better.

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Upper ball joints

Also, if anyone has the pounds of force to adjust the install tension it would help. I am guessing it is ~10 pounds of pull???

Re: Upper ball joints

maybe the master adapter set will have a cone for clearing the arm ? ? not the std kit . been way to long for me to remember them axles . . . . happens when you play with just dana 60 stuff.

and you need the tool to adjust the upper cone . most parts stores dont stock the tool its a order in item .

Re: Upper ball joints

My arm popper off without trying. The ball joints were so tight on the driver side by the time i freed them the arm was loose.
