Still plunking along buying lil things here and there for my projects. Was checking out the spid on my 72 K20 burb and it has manual throttle. That stuff is long gone and honestly its not something I would ever use, but it would be kinda neat if I at least had the knob and lettering.

Were there different styles of manual throttle knobs? Maybe a standard and a deluxe version? When (if) I decide to keep the burb I want to make sure I'm collecting all the same style knobs for the lights, lighters, wipers, and manual throttle.

I think I would prefer to go all deluxe if that's even a thing.

Mark,

I believe there were regular and deluxe knobs. If it does not need to be 100% correct, you could probably use a wiper knob. Check the top of your accelerator bracket next to where the cable attaches from the engine. The manual throttle has a place where the cable attaches. It is different than a regular throttle arm.

Engine is long gone. Didn't even have a front clip when I bought it. Gauge cluster is gone too.

Im not in to spending too much more dough on any of my rides until I decide which one Im going to end up with. But its still kinda fun collecting the small bits and pieces. I figured getting all the knobs that match would be fairly cheap. And if throttle only came in one style I would match to that, I do want it to be correct.

John H has given good info. Definately a plain black knob and a deluxe SS knob, but also knerled edge plain knob and SS knob for the 67. The washer knob is a very close substitute, the washer knob is 3/8" shorter, very difficult to notice the difference. Only the most seasoned truck experts could/would see the difference.

Looks like Ill go with the deluxe knobs then. I may already have everything I need, except for the throttle lettering.

That bracket John is talking about is at the pedal. The '72 manual throttle is just a cable to that bracket on the pedal assembly. The lettering is a loose tab that pops on before the cable assembly.

Oh, thanks Tim. I misunderstood what John was saying. I don't remember if the pedal assembly is in there or not. Ill have to check it out next time Im at where its temporarily stored.

I think a manual throttle would be pretty neat. Apparently you could turn it to fine tune.

Would work great with a granny gear if you were working in a field or something.

Yeah, a little more expensive than a knob. I find the manual throttle most useful as a thing I can say "Look what I can do by turning this knob"

I put one on my wrecker. They are great for a truck with winch

I have a '67 that has a manual throttle. I call it "cave man cruise control". Kind of scary though, not turning off when you tap the brakes like a normal cruise setting.

Mine is just a knob on a tab under the dash. Looks a little too old-man-installation to be stock. My truck was a landscape truck at one time. Could've been used to idle through a field like CG said.
