I have been restoring my wife's grandfather's 63 C10 pickup since April. In the morning we plan to start the motor. It will be the first this original motor has ran in 20 years. I took the motor to a machine shop and had it rebuilt about 6 weeks ago so I hoping she runs like top......

Machine shop told me to use 10w-40... Should I use something different....

I think this would be a good time to get recommendations for a good brand oil.
Also, be sure it doesn't run too rich for the break in.

providing cam lube has been used you can use 10w40 as long as it has no anti friction coating ability. cam lube to protect the lobes, no coating type oils to allow rings to bed in.
remember to replace the oil filter when you change oil after break in. |
