Check Engine light for LS Swap?... Here is my solution

Trying to make modern touches look "stock" is tough. My goal is to simply make it look like it belongs there. This bezel is the exact shape and dimension as the headlight and wiper chrome bezel. Also tried to match the texture but that needs some work.

Re: Check Engine light for LS Swap?... Here is my solution

The light is is from eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-1...72.m2749.l2649

Any 1/2" barrel light will work. I just choose this one because it had a chrome ring.

The bezel I designed and 3D printed: https://www.shapeways.com/product/NK...ionId=64172046

Shapeways 3D prints to order so it can take a while but the quality is better than the printers we use at work so I like using them for the a final product.

So do they get to keep, produce, and sell your idea if you use them????

On another note be a little careful of that E-bay seller and the (at least) two other names they use . They have kind of a bad rep. on the H.A.M.B. Probably not a problem on the small stuff but do some research before buying anything big.

Re: Check Engine light for LS Swap?... Here is my solution

Good to know about that eBay user. I figured $6 bucks was a low risk buy... Never bothered to check their feedback. Thanks for the heads up.

The Shapeways site is simply a service for hobbiest to share their 3D models. I don't make anything (at least I choose not to... I have the option to add a mark-up but the volume is very minimal, this is a hobby, and that complicates things with my current employer). This way, it stays as a hobby and someone else can deal with manufacturing, shipping, and all that other stuff. Not the cheapest way but at least someone can get it if they like it. I am an industrial designer by trade so my "ideas" are technically owned by the company I work for. I got permission to share the parts as long as it was not for profit and company resources are not utilized to manufacture, ship or sell (read liability issues).

Re: Check Engine light for LS Swap?... Here is my solution

Its a 1" fine thread reverse nut you can get from any hardware store in the electrical supply section (for commercial ceiling fan mounts). It was meant to feeling like your cross threading it (kind of like a self locking nut but for plastic). In the end, I ended up using a couple dabs of hot glue on the mating surface of the shoulder because it was hard to adjust after getting the nut tightened down. That has been rock solid and the hot glue is not hurting any surfaces. Thanks for giving it shot. Share a pic when you get it installed.
