Chevrolet c 30 1972

I just bought a c30 one ton. The front brakes are disc and the rear are drums. I'm going to leave the rear for now. I want to put power steering, and wanted to know about using an 80s model salvage front end. I'm new to this and was hoping to get pointed in the right direction. Steering box advice, column, pump, brackets, belts pulleys, etc. Maybe there are some one ton builders out there. I intend to leave this truck in its condition as far as appearance outside. I want to do the mechanics, and interior of my truck. I intend to drive it locally for my welding business as an advertiser. Not a true work truck.

Engine? You really do not need a complete front end to put power steering on. Steering box and a pump assy

So, what years will interchange? I know of a few square body's around here not running. What about into the 90's? Also need a steering wheel this ones shot, down to metal

Re: Chevrolet c 30 1972

If you have the original 350 with the short water pump, you'll need a pump with the brackets, a pulley and a steering box that has the flared fitting+ hoses and a pittman arm. I would pickup new hardware to hold the box to the frame. So 4---7/16-14x1.25'' long and 4 grade 8 lock washers. Steering box will fit from 68 to 79 ( I think) Somewhere around 80ish, they went to o-ring style. Short water pump stuff is limited from 68-72

Job would take me about 2-3 hours to install
