Wire harness plug at firewall bolt size.
I hate to take your time on such a silly question but can anyone tell me the size of bolt that holds the wire harness to the firewall? Diameter, length, thread pitch.
Thanks |

No problem on the time. This is what we like to do. It's a special bolt. Thread size and pitch is 1/4 - 20 x 1 5/8 long overall, but it has a 3/8 head with a small integral washer built in, and a groove just above the threads for a small snap ring. The head has to be small to be able to get a socket down in the recess to remove it. The snap ring is there to separate the inner and outer parts of the bulkhead connector as you unscrew it. I see no reason a person couldn't use a socket head cap screw to replace it if you can't find one. Salvage yard or here on the parts board would be your best bet for an original. LockDoc

Thank you - thank you LockDoc. That was exactly what I needed to know. I picked up a stainless allen head cap bolt those dimensions and it worked perfectly.

Awesome info LockDoc. When is it that your full set of 67-72 encyclopedias is scheduled for release?

... Believe it or not I have actually thought about that. I always wanted to disassemble a truck front to rear and document all of the process with screw sizes, part locations and all of that stuff, but I'm not sure I have enough time left in my life to get it done. Bad part is that I am still learning things about these trucks. It never ends..... Thanks, LockDoc
