Camaro power steering pump resivoir

Does anyone know if the 98-02 camaro (LS-1) power steering pump can be used with a remote resivoir? Or will it only work with the factory resivoir?

Thanks, Wade

The LS1/LS6 Camaro pumps are just type II Saginaw power steering pumps. The casting is the same as used by dozens of other GM models, but they vary in fitting location, shaft size, pressure valves, etc. You can use your Camaro pump with a remote reservoir, but, since it was originally used with a reservoir attached directly to the pump, it doesn't have a way to attach a return hose to it. You need to need a fitting to adapt the return port to a hose barb (or AN thread). There are several such fittings out there. Here is an example of one from Dirty Dingo:

Re: Camaro power steering pump resivoir

Thank you guys for the replies. I'm looking to use either the dirty dingo or ICT billet power steering bracket to mount the type 2 pump on my 6.0L a little higher that the stock truck location and a remote (but not too far, just to the left and little higher) resivoir. Any particular stock pump applications you guys could recommend would be appreciated. Would I be able to do that with the corvette LS-1 pump?
