which adhesive

Just had my 72 C20 painted, I removed all the trim and badges, problem was some of the badges, like the "C20 Custom" placard, the tines broke off so am wanting to know what's the best way to put them back on? 3M tape or is there some sort of epoxy or caulking to adhere them back on?

I would suggest a 3m double back tape. How modern emblems are attached and they stick like hell

This tape enhances the appearance of finished goods by eliminating rivets and screws while providing immediate handling strength. In most cases, fastening with 3M VHB Tape is a quicker process than drilling, fastening, or using liquid adhesive. This versatile line of tapes can be used indoors or outdoors in a variety of applications, including window, door and sign assembly, electronics, construction and countless other industrial applications. Chemically resistant as well as UV and temperature stable, 3M VHB Tape can withstand the heat of Dubai to the cold of Canada. Re: which adhesive

I would only use tape if at least one of the studs with an emblem nut was intact and holding. Broken studs can be repaired by drilling the broken stud off with a 3/16" bit and countersinking the hole with a 1/4" bit. Using a stainless steel #10 - 32 x 1" flathead machine screw. I've never seen an emblem or a trim piece that couldn't be blown off or pulled off at the car wash that had been glued or taped. The easiest and least expensive fix is a replacement emblem either new or used. Some of recyclers on the parts page will have them for like $20 a pair. No joy there ebay usually has them like these, https://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-10-C...YAAOSw-olaKOSp Or opt for a new pair from Classic Parts for $60 https://www.classicparts.com/1969-72...tinfo/59-043P/ LMC wants $80 for theirs so shop around. Might PM Randy, "Teeitup" and see if he's got any, I know at one time he had a box full for like $20 a pair shipped. A wanted to buy post on the parts page might get someone with realistic pricing. I wouldn't pay more than $20 a pair but that's just me, good luck!

Re: which adhesive

Thank you for ideas, I did not think to repair mine, I never considered replacements from LMC, etc as I assumed they would be of inferior "knock off" quality. have seen some originals used but so far most were pitted and mine are in nice shape.

Re: which adhesive

Every car sold for at least the last 15 years is held together with glue and tape from the factory. Talk to a quality body shop and they will be able to provide the proper adhesive for your emblems. In this day and age of insurance companies refusing to buy new parts body shops are always having to reattach old emblems.
