4 link and sway bar

I have a parallel 4 link rear suspension and I want to add a sway bar. I have a sway bar from an S10 4x4 that mounts to the rear end, but the other mounting points are the same width as the 4 link. Can the end links mount to the bars? I have never seen it done and thought it would not be a good idea, it would put a lot of stress on the bars in the wrong direction. Is this correct? Is there somewhere that that sells sway bars that list them by width? I looked and most places list by application and thickness. Thanks.
