TF radiator, condensor spacing

Has anyone installed the VA condenser with a US Radiator crossflow up front? Had my radiator in great, but to install condenser seems the radiator is going to need to move in some. Bolts for condensor bracket are tight against tanks and top holes doont libe up anymore. Anyone else experienced hat issue?

Yes I have just about finished that very same install.

In addition I mounted a transmission cooler in front of it all!

It took a bit of work and I am not quit done!!! I so far have less than an inch between Tran cooler, condenser and rad and fans. As long as I don’t allow air to escape I am hoping I should be good.

There is also issues with running condenser lines when you move things around.

I am currently travelling abroad and have very limited access to my photos and to tell you the truth can’t remember what pictures I have posted that may show this.

Basically I am adding spacers to move the rad in towards the engine and also bending condenser mounts to move it forward. I then am going to use some aluminum angle “iron” to fill in gap around edges.

I have also just mounted a shroud with dual 12 inch spall fans that US Radiator made up for me. They had to modify it to get the 12 inch fans in there but they do make a dual 11 inch Spall set up.

Maybe check my threads and see if any of them help.

Thanks 56, I remembered someone had recently gone through the same dilemma. I'll look back through your posts to grab some ideas. With U.S. Radiator's top cover plate on everything lined up, but with including the VA condenser it doesn't. I know the dryer bracket won't work with the width of the cross flow radiator. Yep, I have the dual 11" SPAL fans on mine.

Hey it just jogged my memory when you mentioned the “top plate” because I actually extended it to assist in moving the rad in towards the engine the 3/4 to 1 inch that I did!

I needed that because I as said did add spacers, actually just flat washers for now, to the stock threaded rad bolt hole locations. I will change multiple flat washers for something like flat aluminum stock to help seal along the sides.

I think it is important to ensure that no air escapes, especially with the 4 row rather thick copper radiator I have. Also the reason I pushed for the larger fans.

I am also seriously thinking about adding the little rubber “flapper” valves to the US Rad aluminum fan shroud. Lots of others like Derale use them and they reportedly assist when running at higher speeds.
