Lowered '52 with Power steering
My '52 has power steering with a 2 1/2" front lowering leaf pack and the rear with 3" blocks. I picked up a 3" dropped axle from Sid to lower the front a total of 5 1/2" drop and now I need to lower my pitman arm.
I looked on Speedway site and the pitman they offer for lowered '47-'59 chevy truck is the one I have already https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Short...-PS,93674.html Has anyone dealt with something like this or know of a pitman that is 3" lower center to center 4" .63" hole diameter 32 spline Spline ID 1.16" Thank you |

Only thing I can figure is that that arm moves the rod end on the drag link to the top rather than the bottom raising the drag link up the same amount. Meaning the taper in the pitman arm is from the top rather than the bottom.
If you have everything together and a way to slide under the truck with the weigh on the tires so you can slide under the truck and look you might hold something to see a straight line from the rod end at the pitman arm to where you figure it would sit on top and see if that raises it up enough. You can pop the front loose and flip it over an put it in from the top but will be about a half inch high if you just want to do the look and see thing.

If you are pretty good at visualizing you can just slide under it and eye ball it and figure out if flipping the rod end over will raise it 67 bucks worth. At the cost of machine shop work I think it would cost more to have a shop put a new taper in the top and fix the bottom side so the stud on the rod end wouldn't get loose.

mr48chev, my son and i were discussing moving draglink to top of pitman and steering arm,with the help of machine shop modifying pitman and steering arm where ball joint goes through . Is that still safe ?

Was able to switch drag link to top side, drill taper hole 5/8 and use heim joint with washers to shim to correct height. Works out great and looks better too IMO
