BLazer Tailgate Pictures

Could someone please post or email me a picture of the tailgate top piece and tailgate seal strips for the 69-72 blazers. Were all the years the same?
Thanks Bill

The seal strips are different. My 70 had a one piece and my understanding is the 71-72 were two piece. I'm talking about the 2 vertical strips.

Re: BLazer Tailgate Pictures

Mt 71 and 69 both had vertical metal strips that held the weatherstrip which is reproduced. The bottom strip holds the carpet down in addition to holding the weatherstrip. The top tailgate piece does not have a weatherstrip on it - the hatch weatherstrip would rest against it.

Here's the carpet strip that came with my 70. Again, totally different than 71-72.

Re: BLazer Tailgate Pictures

Does anyone know if the ones that Hemi43 posted, metal inside rubber, are reproduced anywhere?

Re: BLazer Tailgate Pictures

I had a 71 and I currently have a 69. both had the vertical metal strips with a separate weather strip that fit under the edge of the strips. The carpet strip on my 71 had the same edge as the reproductions Utah Boy sells and it too held a weather strip. The 1970 Chassis Service manual shows that if it was a base Blazer with a top (no carpet) the bottom rubber weatherstrip was glued to the tailgate as there would be no carpet strip.

I'm not sure that they were stock to our Blazers, if the 70 Chassis/Service manual is showing what 70 came with and my 69 and 71, and Richard's 72 show the same. In any event I haven't seen those reproduced to date.

It may be that the example on the right is a reproduced piece based on this post here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...53&postcount=1

There are two styles of the OEM tailgate top metal strip: the differences were shown in a thread that I'm currently unable to locate.

Bill,
The one on the left looks like a single wall top hold down strip but it is hard to tell from that picture angle. It looks like it might be chrome under that blue paint. Here is a link to Utahboys repro with pics of the profile.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=8177181

The one on the right is exactly like my upper tailgate strip

Richard
