Disc brake shields ?

Are they necessary? I'm doing a rear disc conversion that won't have them so wondering if it's a must or an option to have them on front or back ??

Re: Disc brake shields ?

They are only nessacary under certain circumstances.

They help keep rain off the disk along with other things. Although I have cars that never had them.

For 4x4's some prefer them to keep mud off the disk, and some so the caliper can she'd the mud.

In general it is a better bet to have them on.

They also help keep brake dust off the other suspension parts which is why I wanted to have them

Re: Disc brake shields ?

No shields. Rocks get stuck in between them in the mud and chew up the rotors.
