HELP auto trans not shifting into park
It has gotten really hard to pull my auto trans shift lever toward the driver to enable it to go into park. What causes that and is it an easy fix. I’ve never really had to do anything with the linkage so I’m not familiar with it. Getting ready to be stuck somewhere I think and I’m out on the road
Thanks

Re: HELP auto trans not shifting into park
Same issue here on my blazer project - used the tips from this thread to fix mine up.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=514116 I got some old rags held them under the column and was able to spray lubricant in the column hole where the shift lever goes in. I waited 5 mins or so and then moved the column lever through all the gears and sprayed inside the column again at each gear spot. This was all it took for mine to be functional again. There can be a few other spots to check - like any binding where the column and trans connection occurs near the firewall. Try the easy route first with spray lube in the column and then decide on next steps to diagnose if that doesn't work. |

Re: HELP auto trans not shifting into park
It won't be a transmission problem. Check your linkage and re adjust it.

Re: HELP auto trans not shifting into park
Also check the roll pin on the shift lever. I've seen those work loose and cause shifter problems.
