85 GMC Project
Hey all! First post and hopefully not my last.
We picked up a 1985 GMC Sierra Saturday for my 13 yo daughter. For a couple of years she has been saying she wants an old truck and every time she sees a square body she stares at it. I don't have a lot of info, mostly because I have never had a GM before so I don't know what's is what. It here is what I do know. 1985 GMC Sierra longbed with 121,000 Original miles. Body is in great shape with only minor surface rust on the corner of one door but the cab corners and fenders are solid as day one. Body has a couple of small imperfections but nothing I can't handle before paint. Interior is pretty good. Dash has the expected 33 year old cracks and the driver's side of the seat is worn out but all the trim, door cards and rest of dash are in great shape. The engine is completely apart. The previous owner pulled it at 60k to install a 350 and decided to disassemble it. The 350 grenaded at 61k - looks like it lost oil, the cam broke at the rear just before the distributor, three rods came through the oil pan, several cylinders are scored and the crank trashed. He kept that paperweight but I would have taken it for a core or scrap. The truck is not at the house yet so I just have the one from its Craigslist ad. And it looks like I can't share it. I need a good place to host my pics. I'm sure I'll be asking a lot of questions and I want to say thank you in advance!! Last edited by Scott91370; 04-03-2018 at 08:39 PM. |
