Need a Measurement
This is on a 55-57 truck.
Need the measurement from the back of the core support to the top mounting bolt for the hood hinge on the fire wall. Also from the cowl down to the top bolt. Thanks . Kim |

Re: Need a Measurement
35 inches from firewall to core support, but I have a 1/8 piece of aluminum covering the firewall but still use the original mounting spots, so it might be
35 1/8". Also measured 2 1/4 inch from the flat edge of the ledge molding where the cab welds to the firewall (?) to the top mounting bolt. I'm using billet hinges so that measurement is a little iffy. I feel your pain with the hood. I fought mine with adding, subtracting, shimming, moving, etc. until I couldn't stand it. I finally decided make my OCD self be OK with it closing and opening well and looking good on 3 out of the four sides. The pass side rear corner will not fit the way I want but the other three sides look good. I just refuse to look at that corner any more. Good luck. |

When your hood opens does it want to go back with the billet hinges or just go straight up? That may be my final fix if all else fails. Kim |

Re: Need a Measurement
I went out last night and had my wife open and close the hood a few times while I watched the rear. It seems, to my eye, that the hood rear goes up and not back at the beginning. The hinges I have are from Eddie Motorsports. They are beautiful, but somewhat pricey. My only complaint is they don't open as far as the originals but tons better in every other aspect. Remember, my hood is pancaked also.

I looked at those hinges and they are very nice. They are a slightly different design than the stock hinges and may work better because of the pancaked hoods. Will have to really think about them. Kim |
