83 Lower Grill Attachment?

When I took out the grille on my 83, I noticed that the bottom of the grille only had 1 screw in the middle holding the bottom in.

Is this the only screw that is in the bottom of the grille?

I would think that there would be other screws holding the bottom in.

There are 2 narrow slots located on either side of the grille as shown in the pic.

There aren't any signs of any clips ever being on there or any holes in the splash pan.

Any help on this???

Ok...so apparently, there are 2 tabs on each end of the grille for screws to attach. These tabs are broken off & missing on my otherwise good grill.

I'm going to try and make a bracket for those screws....

two tabs on the sides and one in then middle.

I'm with you. I would think there would be more considering how many are in the top?

Re: 83 Lower Grill Attachment?

The tabs in question are these, one each side of the grille. A screw goes into a plastic grommet beside the headlight. The slots on the back of the grille are were the parking lamp goes.
So there would be 3 screws in the bottom of the grille along with the ones on top.

Thanks...

Those mounting tabs were broken off. So, I made some metal ones & riveted them to the grill.
